The Mercedes Benz 300SL Roadster - voted one of the sexiest
cars in the world.
So what did we do?
Naturally, we stripped it!

The dash was the first area of detail for this major restoration
project.

This may look scary, but one of our great areas of expertise
is being able to take a complex dash like this apart and put it back
together properly.

And here's the finished centerpiece - releathered, including
the inner windshield frame, repolished, and even sporting a new wood
steering wheel.

Even the transmission tunnel, front cowl panels and side
rails were repadded and covered in the same leather.

The door panels also required a great deal of attention.
The original stitch design was carefully duplicated and the armrests
were tightly leather wrapped.

Next up were the seats. These actually required the
most extensive work. The originals weren't that bad, but nothing like
new.

The pleats were individually stuffed and again, the
original stitching design was carefully duplicated. The leather then
had to be fitted to the frames and hand stitched into place.
The balance of the floor was redone in a combination
of the original square weave wool with leather binding and the correct
black rubber mats.

The convertible top was replaced using the original
German canvas. The top had to be hand fit and finished to the frame
as these frames have slight variances.

Even the removable hardtop headliner was restored.

So what looked like this, at one point ...

. . . Ultimately became this masterpiece, worth several
hundred thousand dollars!
